History from student days at Hogwarts to the present time:
Birth to Hogwarts
Dean was born in the area of Bloomsbury in London. Just after his first birthday, his father, Filip Morgan, left his budding family for parts unknown. Faced with a small child to care for and a high rent, his mother, Rose, an accountant, moved to the borough of Newham. There she met George Thomas, a school teacher. While it wasn't quite love at first sight the pair eventually married when Dean was three and George formally adopted him.
By all accounts Dean had a happy child as the eldest of five. Within nine months of his mother and step-father's wedding, his sister Martha was born. She was followed by Joseph two years later, Marlene three later, and finally Kayla two after that. Despite the fact that his childhood was very loud and often times crowded, Dean loved and thrived on it. He went to his first football game with his step-father, a West Ham one naturally, and has been a fan ever since.
Shortly after his eleventh birthday he received his Hogwarts letter and while it came as no surprise to Rose, who had know about her husband's abilities, it came as quite a shock to Dean as he had never shown signs of accidental magic--at least not to his knowledge. (Though apparently as a toddler he had a fit when his room was painted the wrong shade of green.)
Hogwarts
Dean was sorted into Gryffindor the same year as Harry Potter. While they were not best of friends, they always remained friendly, even though the Ron-Hermione-Harry trio seemed to operate in their own little bubble. He was good friends, however, with Seamus Finnegan as well as Parvati Patil and Lavender Brown. He maintained a pretty low profile up until his fifth year, when he joined his fellow fifth year Gryffindors in the DA. It was at the end of that year that he also began to date Ginny Weasley, a relationship that continued throughout his sixth year.
His seventh year changed his world completely for him. After getting word that the Ministry had fallen from an hastily written owl by Seamus in the middle of the night, Dean took his wand and the small amount of cash he had on hand and went on the run. Though he spent a good part of the year avoiding capture, Dean eventually was, finding his way to Harry and Luna Lovegood. After escaping to Shell Cottage, where he stayed for several months with Bill and Fleur Weasley, he went to Hogwarts for the Final Battle, even though he had no wand.
There not only was he reunited with his best friend, but fought with Parvati against Death Eaters. He eventually won himself a wand during the fight, but quickly abandoned it when the time came as it left him with a "sick" and "disgusted" feeling. The Battle won, Dean returned home to London for the first time in a year where not only was he welcomed home, but immediately grounded for leaving home without telling anyone why.
After Hogwarts to Present
After the Wizarding World began to come back together, Dean didn't really know what to do with himself, so took the time to look up his biological father. It was discovered Morgan was killed by Death Eaters just days after walking out. However, this discovery was a double edged sword as he was the sole inheritor of a small fortune and a cottage out in Wiltshire. For a man who had resided in London for the whole of his life, he really didn't know what to do with it. After spending two weeks there, he realized he felt no connection to the place. So he sold it, invested the profits, and went on a year-long Grand Tour that started and ended in Paris. He spent the year an artist on the streets of the City.
After a memorable night with former yearmate Parvati Patil, which resulted in making sure she didn't make herself sick polishing off a bottle of wine by herself and nearly two dozen chcocolate covered strawberries, he returned to England. He bought himself an abandoned church tower and devoted himself to learning as many carpentry and home improvement spells possible to make his home livable. It took nearly three years and two complete rehauls later, and he had a home in Grayfriar's Passage.
As it turned out, Dean's talent for being "good with a quill" wasn't limited to drawing or forging signatures, but also with the written word as it related to contracts, wills, and other legal documents. His profession, combined with his inheritance has left him comfortably well off, as long as he knows how to budget his money.
